C'est le 21 novembre 1995 que commence la première tournée mondiale acoustique de Springsteen. Elle ne s'achèvera que le 26 mai 1997! Le spectacle se déroulera à chaque fois dans des villes majeures mais dans des salles de petite taille.

La tournée commence par les USA et notamment le 8 et le 9 décembre au Tower Theater de Philadelphie (PA), les deux spectacles sont enregistrés pour l'émission radio Columbia Records Radio Hour. 

Ce disque reflète cette émission radiodiffusée mais la date du show est incertaine: c'est probablement un "mix" des deux shows.

Pour écouter, ce n'est pas loin....Un voyage vers nulle part.

Bruce, par ailleurs, fait quelques plateaux télé et enregistre une musique de film pour Tim Robbins "Dead Man Walkin' ".

Puis, début 1996 , il part tourner en Europe. il passe notamment en France et donne un fameux concert à Brixton le 24 avril.

Dés l'été, il se remet à composer de nouveaux morceaux avant de reprendre la route...et jouer avec Pete Seeger par exemple à Cleveland pour un concert de bienfaisance en l'hommage de Woody Guthrie. On retrouve en partie ce show sur ce disque:

Fin 1996, Bruce s'apprête à repartir en Australie, au Japon puis en Europe à nouveau.

En avril 97, il enregistre de nouveau seul de nouvelles compositions.

En mai 1997,la tournée s'achève au bout d'un an et demi (et 129 shows) à Paris, avec deux soirs au Palais des Congrès. Elliott Murphy l'accompagne le dernier soir.
